How to Fix Your Clumpy Mascara
Before you throw out your favorite mascara, try this quick and easy makeup hack first!
Usually, when a mascara starts to clump and become to thick, we throw it out and buy a new one.
But…if your mascara has suddenly started clumping, it may not necessarily mean that you need to toss it out and replace it right away. Especially if it’s fairly new!
What you can do is this- just take a tissue and wipe the wand fully and then try putting on your mascara again.
Why Does Mascara Clump?
Often, it’s that the wiper system that’s within the mascara tube that’s creating the problem.
Within your mascara tube is a filter called the wiper system. When you pull your mascara wand out of the tube, the wiper system is supposed to pull off the excess mascara, so that only the proper amount is left on your mascara wand. Think of it like a filter.
But sometimes the wiper system is just not adequately pulling off the excess mascara from the wand itself, and this creating the clumping, even on fresh mascaras.
How Long Do Mascaras Last?
Mascaras are really only good for about 6 months before they go bad. This six months timeline starts once you open the tube.
So if it has been six months, go ahead and toss the mascara and get a new one. But if it hasn’t been try this hack and let me know how it works!
