How to Keep Eyeliner From Smudging
One of my pet peeves as a pro makeup artist, but also as a consumer myself is when you put on an eyeliner and it just fades or it smudges and moves.
Uh, what’s the point of wearing that?
There are different makeup tips that I teach right here at Glam Bootcamp about how to keep that from happening- but really you have to first choose the best eyeliner pencils for the job that will last the longest.
Which Eyeliners Are The Longest Wearing?
Not all eyeliners are created equally. In fact, they often aren’t made the the same at all. They are actually made differently, and have different purposes.
For example: some pencils, like kohl pencils, are very soft and are designed to smudge. They do not hold up well with eyelid oils or sweat.
If you really want your eyeliner to last all day then here’s my tip: When you’re shopping for eyeliners, you need to choose ones that claim to be “smudgeproof” or “long-lasting”.
If you don’t buy one with these claims, then it’s really a gamble on how long the eyeliner is going to last, and it probably is just going to waste your money.
The Best Smudgeproof Eyeliner
What I recommend are the Urban Decay 247 eyeliners. This is a very long lasting eyeliner. It’s very nice and and soft when you put it on your eyelid. And smudgeable, which is great for blending.
But then- it locks in and it lasts you all day long without budging. This is pretty much the only eyeliner series that I carry in my pro makeup kit, and this is what I use at home too.
